My Students

My second grade students are from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Just over 50% of my school receive free and reduced lunch. There is an increasingly high percentage of English as a second language learners at my school.

The students in my classroom have limited opportunities to learn outside of the classroom.

By enhancing my classroom with stimulating and engaging methods of learning, my students will be better prepared for various life experiences and have a deeper understanding of the need for education.

My Project

The students in my classroom need access to more nonfiction books and writing tools. Nonfiction texts are always of high interest and are therefore able to expand their learning to the world around them. Nonfiction is essential for enhancing and broadening their literary skills.

Your generous gift will not only foster a greater understanding of nonfiction but also increase their overall reading and writing skills of the students in my classroom.

The nonfiction science read along books for the listening center will expose my students to a wide range of nonfiction texts. The nonfiction writing tiles will help to guide and promote the ability to successfully respond and organize their nonfiction writing. The read along books and nonfiction tiles will strengthen and heighten the daily center work in my classroom!
