This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate to work in a city with so many loving and deserving children. Our school is home to over 350 students with a variety of talents. They thrive with the support of our amazing staff. Our school has students with special needs as well as a high poverty rate. You wouldn't know it by their smiling faces and positive attitudes because our students use the power of Positive Growth Mindset. They realize the power of their potential and words like "perseverance" and "never give up" are in each child's vocabulary. I am privileged to work in this neighborhood school, and my students teach me everyday.

My Project

Learning to jump rope is a wonderful skill to help students learn about heart health as well as muscle function. The ropes we currently use are not easy to manipulate and often times the students get tripped up and frustrated. I want the students to love jumping rope and these will help immensely! Cardiovascular health is an important topic in Physical Education. Jumping rope is one of the best basic skills that students can master to accomplish heart health. My students are able to practice jumping rope all year, anywhere and with minimal investment. Students who love to jump rope can practice and love this skill for many years to come!
