Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Due to budget cuts, our school does not offer art classes. Students do not have the opportunities to shine their creative side of their mind.
We are 8th grade girls in a single gendered classroom near Downtown Los Angeles area.
Our school focuses on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)aspect of curriculum and emphasizes 21st century skills. Students do not have art classes as elective because we do not have any art teachers.
My Project
We will learn the patience to crochet and allow us to step back from technology filled lives. We can relax and learn to design the stuff animals. We will learn how to give to others as we plan to donate the crocheted dolls to the less fortunate children.
We do not have the opportunity to be creative.
The concept of crochet is new to the students. Students can use their motor skills and imagination to create dolls. I have recently learned how to crochet and I am loving it.
