My Project

Rhythm is with us every moment of every day: the pulse of our hearts, the breath in our lungs. I hear it in my students' feet walking up and down the halls. It's no surprise that rhythm instruments are often the first that children make music with.

This project gives my youngest students access to some of their first instruments and sets them on the path to music literacy and expression.

My PreK-2 students are incredibly curious learners. Any time I share a new idea or activity, they are all in. Rhythm sticks enable an entire classroom to participate in music-making with minimal expense. Rhythm scarves are a gentle introduction to intentional movement to music. All of this lays the groundwork for a lifetime of learning and self-expression.
