This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is located in a low-income/high poverty area. Our students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Our students have the capability to be very creative. Music is a great way for students to become creative and explore their individual abilities.
Currently our school does not have a music program in place.
Our goal is to set up a music room for our students to enable high achievement for each student through discovery. Music class will be a place where students have the opportunity to sing, play, create, compose, improvise, perform, dance, and work together as a team!
My Project
Our new music room is in need of a keyboard to engage students in learning so many different skills. Our students will be able to learn about singing, rhythm pitch and so much more! A keyboard is fundamental in a music classroom for a variety of purposes with a whole class or individual students.
Maracas allow the students to be creative in many different ways.
They can learn the basic skill of keeping a rhythm, creating a pattern, accompaniment and so much more! Beyond creating music, our students will be able to explore cultures, the science behind how the instruments work, and the art of creating art together!
