I have amazing students who are eager to learn about the Graphic Design industry in my Career Technical classroom. We are situated at a California Air Force Base, and we have a range of students from military families and surrounding high desert towns.
We are a very small public school district and as such we have a very limited budget.
We have students that come to the graphic design classroom as a way to enhance both their creative outlets and their future career opportunities.
My Project
We are a small school district with a new CTE (Career Tech Education) department. We have a very limited budget for our classrooms. The school is on track to have a major renovation within the next 5 years (first time in over 50 years). But in the mean time we are not getting any budget for new desks.
We have desks that are falling apart and they are fixed against the wall so I don't have the ability to arrange the room for optimum learning.
These Ergonomic Stand Up Desk will improve the layout of the room and improve the students' focus and fitness while they are learning. Simply by standing up, students now are able to practice proper posture that will strengthen their spine, won’t encourage them to hunch over, actually focus more on the lesson being presented, and increase blood circulation and an active lifestyle. Studies show that standing more can also help prevent type 2 diabetes, lower cholesterol and improve BMI.
It seems like every which way that you look, kids are facing new forms of stress or pressure that previous generations did not have to worry about. Sitting all day can just be an enabler to bottle up stress accumulated throughout the day. Letting students have room to fidget and stand up is proven to help relieve tension. One way to incorporate standing in the classroom is to add standing desks for students to use.
Why the active sitting stool?- with a conventional chair, you’re completely at rest and susceptible to a variety of sitting-related health issues.
