My Students

Thanks to our wonderful, supportive community and others at Donors Choose, our classes and after school enrichment programs have been able to explore coding and engineering in real life. We have chrome books, robots, a few iPads and a Makerspace. We are very thankful for having these opportunities.We are a close knit, supportive community with kids from diverse backgrounds. We love to learn! We especially love hands-on learning and projects!

My Project

We currently have 5 Sphero 2.0 robots (about 3 years old) and one SPRK+ newer Sphero.

We use these amazing robots to learn about robotics and coding, incorporating robotics and technology with collaborative STEAM activities.

We need the newer Sphero SPRK+ robots to replace the 2.0 models which will give us more options for projects. The SPRK+ models also connect with our Chromebooks allowing students to do more in depth coding projects.

Young students (K-1) can use drawing to program the robots to follow paths, solve math equations, and spell words. Older students can use drag and drop coding blocks to learn about loops, conditionals, and variables while building and navigating mazes and practicing geometry. Students who are ready for more can start working in Javascript text based code.

All levels can use the robots to create art, do Math, science, and any number of content connected activities.
