My Students

I am so lucky to teach in a small, rural community. My students love to learn. They are curious about the world around them. They want to investigate and explore. I love getting to know them and their families throughout the year. The most important aspect of teaching is relationships.

It is my responsibility to provide a student-centered learning environment that promotes kindness, compassion, respect, and love for each other.

We take risks. We are not afraid to fail. We learn from each other. We support each other. We are a community.

My Project

BrainPop Jr. is a high-quality educational site that is specifically geared towards kindergarten through third grade. It has an interactive format that includes videos, quizzes, activities, and games. I was fortunate to have this website funded through Donors Choose and I am hopeful that next year's students will also get to enjoy and learn from it.

My students love the main characters, Annie and a lovable robot named Moby.

I love how it matches up to state standards. I can search for a specific standard and it will tell me which BrainPop videos match it. For example, one of our financial literacy standards is making transactions using currency emphasizing its use as a medium of exchange. BrainPop Jr. has several economics videos that help teach this concept; Goods and Services, Needs and Wants, and Saving and Spending.
