Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
By nature, children need to move constantly and this helps them learn more than when they are sitting at all times. My second-grade class consists of about 63 kids who love to learn new things every day. All of my students are language learners. They are either learning Spanish or English because our school offers a dual immersion program. In second grade, we have three classes that rotate between the English, the math and the Spanish teacher.
Allowing movement inside and outside the classroom will support all learning styles for this awesome second graders!
There is a great variety of learning styles in this second grade class. However, they all love learning through movement. Most of them really enjoy when we go out for PE or when we do brain breaks in the classroom. Simply put, they love moving as much as possible!
My Project
Little kids can't stay sitting for long periods of time. They need to be moving constantly in order to focus in the classroom. My students are in need of flexible seating and PE equipment.
Flexible seating facilitates this movement for students inside the classroom and a variety of PE equipment allows for more movement outside the classroom!
The products I selected will allow my students to move while being inside the classroom and they will help them move as well when being outside the classroom during our physical education period. Sitting on stability discs or flexible stools, children are seated while being allowed to move inside the classroom. Outside, lots of equipment such as balls, jumping ropes, hoops, and cones will support student freedom of movement!
