This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
With your help, our school library would like to acquire a series of graphic novels for our 3rd-5th graders: a 12-book set of the "Baby-Sitters Club". Additionally, we'd like 6 Spanish-language "Baby-Sitters" titles. Let us tell you a little more about our students.
92% of the students at our school come from households with below-average income.
The kids tend to be first-generation Americans whose parents have recently arrived in the U.S. from the Caribbean or from Central or South America. We do not have an affluent PTA that could help us purchase resources for our media center.
We have 3 titles from this series already - so we can vouch for its popularity. We'd love to flesh out our collection so that the 3rd-5th graders, who tend to check these books out, have access to ALL the books. Also, since 85% of our children speak Spanish at home, it would make sense to acquire some Spanish-language versions of the books.
The books come from Follett School Solutions - a library book supplier that will barcode each title and provide us with electronic data records, so that the books can be circulated through our library computer.
Please support our school library! The kids would be thrilled to see these books on the shelves.
