My Project

My students are in the Law and Public Safety program at my Career Technical Education center. My second year student will examine roles of Crime Scene Investigators as well as be introduced to skills needed for the industry. I have great students who are excited about learning and exploring these careers.

Crime Scene Investigation uses an interactive approach to learning that gives students an opportunity to immerse themselves in the challenging complexities of crime scene investigation.

As a team, they will work together to solve the mystery of a realistic mock crime scene. In a true-to-life simulation, students will gather evidence, study the clues, analyze the data and, maybe, solve the mock crime scene. In small groups, students will learn the skills of crime scene investigation.

They will be able to take fingerprints, take plaster impressions of tire tracks and footprints, and sketch a crime scene while participating in mock crime scene scenario activities. They will be able to collect evidence left behind in the mock crime scene and process the crime scene in a mock crime scene lab.

The primary focus of the crime scene investigator is to maintain the integrity of the crime scene. Taught in a classroom setting, the required skills become part of a curriculum in which students learn by participating mock classroom demonstrations or computer interactive resources.
