This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My fifth-grade students are today's scholars and tomorrow's leaders who are curious, enthusiastic, creative, and eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge! In addition to academics, our students practice making positive human connections with daily choices that support R.I.S.E.—Respect, Integrity, Safety, and Excellence, and they are recognized monthly for demonstrating these character traits.

As the school year draws to a close, we are preparing for Open House and other exciting year-end activities before my students complete their elementary education and move on to middle school.

I would like to introduce my students to the medium of clay. We will begin this dabble into the world of clay by reading the book, Unicorn Thinks He’s Pretty Great, then creating pinch pots at our STEAM station. After the clay dries and is strengthened with glue, students will get to paint their unicorns and add bead legs. If our project is funded in time, we would love to display these whimsical creatures at the Open House for everyone to appreciate!
