Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"What we learn with pleasure, we will never forget." Alfred Mercier. Students need to be engaged in various ways that help them tap into their creative side so they will love to learn.
I have a diverse group of students.
However, the majority of my students come from the public housing system in NYC. They are a wonderful group of students who love to explore and learn as well as amaze me on a daily basis. Even though many of them face very harsh realities, they still come in excited to learn and happy to be in school. My students find comfort in the school; for some, it is one of the few constants in life they can count on. Working in a large urban city school with very limited resources, I have learned to be creative when it comes to providing my students with resources.
My Project
The Hokki stool is an ergonomic stool that transforms stationary sitting into an activity, ideal for brainstorming sessions and other active sitting environments. You're moving, even when you seem to be sitting still. The chair allows for movement in all directions, which is critical to student development as physical movement both increases well-being and encourages the physical and intellectual maturing process.
These Hokki stools will be beneficial for students who have difficulty sitting in their chairs as well as give them the ability to focus on their tasks and sit actively.
With kindergarten becoming more rigorous each year, these stools will allow student's to meet their maximum potential.
