Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have two classrooms with thirty two preschool students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Most of our students are, for the most part, first generation immigrants. Our amazing school district does the best to provide materials for our students’ needs, but out of 700 families that make up our school, we have an almost non-existent PTA, therefore we hardly have any funding for outdoor toys and materials. Our school yard has very little to no areas for students to climb and play and use their imagination.

We would like funding for outdoor toys and materials to help develop English speaking skills, large motor skills, and family involvement projects and meetings.

Most of our students speak another language other than English and have never attended school before they come to us.

One of their favorite activities is the sand box! We have a very small one, standing only. Our students who come with language and developmental needs and have nowhere to climb nor sand to play with. We would love to bring the classroom outdoors and enjoy our gorgeous CA weather!

My Project

We will make sure to use our outdoor furniture and toys to create an outdoor oasis for these kids. We have an amazing math program that we could use outdoors as well as messy science experiments. if we had a place for our students to work on a comfortable working area. We can extend our studies and work outdoors. What's more exiting that making messy volcanos and having red, bubbly lava spill all over and guess what? No mess to clean up! Last but not least, our students LOVE having lunch outside...aka....picnics. Please help us give our students a wonderful outdoor area.
