This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to be 6 years old? Can you remember how excited you were to look at a book and imagine the endless possibilities? Every day I walk into a room of 28 little faces - full of anticipation and who are eager to explore their world just as we did when we were 6!

The students at our school come from extremely diverse family backgrounds.

However, all our kiddos are excited to be at school and want to do and be the best they can. The students work diligently to maintain our school's peaceful and collaborative climate.

My Project

It is essential I provide resources that engage all my learners and provide them with the opportunity to reach their goal of reading and writing. Children love to listen to stories just as much as they love to read; I have a listening/read-a-long center, but I do not have adequate resources to implement this component to its full intent.

The requested resources will allow me to implement a balanced literacy program that incorporates small group instruction and effective, independent reading and writing activities.

These necessary resources will allow me to differentiate instruction for my extraordinarily diverse class of 28 six year old students...giving them each the opportunity to achieve!
