My students come from high levels of poverty. Most, if not all, are eligible for free breakfast and lunch. Often they come to school unprepared, but willing to learn.
They are young, intelligent, and energetic and the world is theirs for the taking, but with a lack of resources and constant budget cuts in Philadelphia it is hard for them to see their self-worth.
I want to offer them all what they deserve and prepare them for the life they are destined to lead.
My Project
My students are absolutely phenomenal and eager to learn. We currently use an online program that provides students with individual lessons and opportunities to complete math objectives throughout the lesson.
The only downfall is that students do not have headphones.
It creates an unsatisfactory learning environment. It can be very confusing, keeping the volume low to avoid disrupting other students, and then hitting replay when you cannot hear your own directions.
Many students have brought in their own, but they are not always compatible with the technology we have.
