Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a class of 20 energetic, enthusiastic, and amazing students. Our school is a Title I school where most students come from low-income or poverty-stricken homes. All of the students receive free or reduced-rate lunch. Most are English Language Learners, while some have special needs. These students come to school eager to learn every day with big smiles on their faces, regardless of their circumstances.
I want to help these students in every way that I can in order for them to be successful in reaching their goal of developing their skills, and of course, have fun!
My Project
As part of the literacy curriculum, my students have a Skills block where they rotate to different workstations that focuses on phonics and literacy. The stations include independent reading, working with the teacher, and word word. As part of their rotation, I would love to add a listening station so that they can listen and read along with the story.
My students love listening to stories and they get excited whenever they have the chance to hold the books in their hands and read along.
With the CD player and the books, my students can have the opportunity to apply what they have learned during their Skills lessons, such as finding and reading the sight words.
