Help me give my students pastel-colored mini castle magnetic building blocks to foster STEM learning.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ip's classroom raised $382

My Students
The kindergartners all come from different academical, cultural, and economical backgrounds. Some students may even be visiting from different countries, being new to the United States.
Many of our kindergartners come being eager to learn, play, and meet new friends.
They are very cheerful, at times mischievous, but many times happy to be at school to learn new things.
This year, I am hoping to buy new toys for our classroom that can foster the learning of science and math, especially for our girls.
My Project
Women are traditionally under-represented in the fields of science and math. Although many girls may show interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) through exploration at a young age, many times they are discouraged from playing with toys that are too "manly" through socialization with other kids.
These pastel-colored mini castle magnetic building blocks can help nurture curiosity in STEM for our kindergarten girls.
The pretty colors can lessen the stigma that our girls will face and help bridge the gap between their love of science and math and their eventual pursuing of a STEM career if they wish.
I also selected a bunch of games that can promote strategic thinking and cooperative skills. Outfoxed! is by far my favorite because it requires detective skills and strategizing while looking for the culprit. The design is also more gender neutral. Race to the Treasure and Mermaid Island are created by Peaceable Kingdom, a company that designs cooperative games in which students have to work together in order to win. Zingo! 1-2-3 Number Bingo is another game that requires cooperative skills through learning to take turns and assigning leadership roles within a small group of players. Students can learn to problem solve and become better STEM learners through these fun kid games.
