Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher in the Bridgeport Public Schools system servicing the needs of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders in grades 7th and 8th.
My students are kind, gentle, smart, loving, creative, and hard working individuals.
Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way. Education is the most powerful weapon, which you can use to change the world each and everyday. My students are very special to me and deserve the best.
My Project
This project was created to build my students vocabulary in their school and at home. I want my students to be able to have a meaningful conversations with their peers, teachers, parents and friends.
Additionally, this project serves as a reward system for my students to be able to play sports with their classrooms peers.
It will help increase their social skills and gross motor skills. This project will teach them how to play together as a team and have meaningful interactions throughout the school.
The items that I requested for my project include such items as Carson Dells Early Learning Skills/Learning Cards, Key Education Photo Conversation Cards for Children with Autism, and Opposites Language Cards. This part of the project will increase language development and build the vocabulary for my students in the classroom.
After the learning in complete we requested some sports equipment such as Nerf Sports Pro Grip Footballs, Wilson Traditional Soccer Ball and basketballs to use during our free gym and recess time to help with the students development in daily social skills.
I want my students to be happy, and have fun and learn how to communicate effectively with other individuals.
