Help me give my students great picture books to help them understand figurative language!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Parisi's classroom raised $271

My Project
When students enter third grade, they are literal readers and need to learn how many authors use figurative language, which are words presented in a nonliteral way. Students have a lot of trouble understanding figurative language. In fact, this is especially a problem for English language learners (64% of my current class makeup) because they are not at all familiar with our common expressions. These books will help me introduce and revisit figurative language with class read-aloud.
Reading aloud to students with books containing figurative language will provide a safe and fun approach to helping students better comprehend what they've read.
By reading aloud to my students I am introducing them to text and story structure, as well as new vocabulary and figurative language.
I look forward to seeing new engagement from my students as they hear these new and exciting stories.
