Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have been learning about kindness, empathy, and about helping others. We want to help St. Jude Hospital and all the children who are receiving treatment pass the time with fun board games. These will lessen their fears as they hope for the best results. The twistable crayons will help them draw pictures on their sketch pads so they can bring color to their rooms or draw a picture for their loved ones and all the amazing hospital staff who are helping them get better.

Many times children are in their rooms and having board games to pass the time will allow young patient's to have fun with their families or other children.

I want for my students to give back to these young children as they go through their treatment. Having fun games, crayons, and sketch pads will give patients a fun day of games and art activities as they remain in the hospital. My students will truly appreciate the fact that they are showing kindness to other kids their age. They will write a personal note and draw a picture so the patients who receive them can hang it in the room and know that they are not alone and we are all hoping for a speedy recovery.

Teaching empathy is helping my students care about others and it is showing that they are capable of giving back.
