My Students
My students are amazing and they are trying their best to overcome numerous obstacles during these uncertain times. My talented students are doing their best to overcome both their academic and social-emotional challenges. The students at my high school come from diverse backgrounds, many represent low socioeconomic statuses, and reside in an urban area. When they are at the point where they doubt that they can not overcome a challenge or find a solution to a problem, it is then that I remind them that they are not alone and we are here for them.
My Project
Due to high school sports teams taking a hit last school year, I would like to provide a little assistance to our hardworking and well-deserving sports teams which include our baseball, volleyball, football, basketball, and softball teams. They all would benefit from having additional balls (basketballs, softballs, baseballs, footballs, and volleyballs) for their particular sports as well as, training equipment/materials.
While many of our students get involved in high school athletics for the love of the game, however, there are also significant benefits from these extracurricular activities as well.
Studies suggest that student-athletes are less likely to participate in unhealthy or risky behavior when they are playing sports in high school. Our school athletes learning extend beyond the classroom. They learn the importance of persistence, patience, and practice. Team members learn that practice is required, even when they would prefer to be spending time doing other activities. They learn the harder they work, the better they perform. They also discover that by never giving up, they are more likely to achieve their goals. These life lessons benefit students long after the high school years, helping them succeed in college and after.
