My students need supplies to grow both crystals and plants inside of the classroom. In addition, we'd like butterfly stepping stones for our indoor garden and to have books about plants.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The almost 1000 students at our school live in a low-income neighborhood with limited access to basic school supplies. We are a Title I school with almost all of the students qualifying for free breakfast and free lunch each day.
Although my students have limited access to resources, they are enthusiastic to come to school each day to learn many new standards.
I look forward to giving my students many of the much-needed supplies this year by asking the generous donors of Donors Choose to provide these supplies.
My Project
I would like to give my students the experience of growing something including plants and crystals.
Part of our science curriculum teaches the students about plants and how they grow.
I would like to give my students the experience of growing their own plants inside of the classroom.
With limited land to use at the school for growing anything, we can use these supplies to plant and grow our very own plants and crystals in the classroom. I would like to be able to have them on display for Open House if the materials are delivered in time.
We also would like to have a small library of books for the students to read about plants as we grow them. We display them next to the indoor garden.
Just for fun and to go along with our environmental theme, we would like some butterfly stepping stones for our indoor garden.
