My students are from a rural farming community and come to our school from five different elementary schools. Coming from a farming community, they are no stranger to hard work. It is also no surprise to see students come in wearing their favorite pair of Muck boots or hear stories of their what happened to their animals or harvests.
Since my students have such a rich background and interest in farming and food production, we will be growing food hydroponically this year.
By incorporating the IF/THEN collection and introducing my students to STEM pioneers like Catie Cuan, Diana Trujillo and others, students will see the endless possibilities of a career in STEM.
Who knows, the next astronaut or groundbreaking scientist may be sitting in my classroom!
My Project
This project will add another element to our current hydroponics and gardening study while allowing students to take their learning outside!
Although COVID has changed education, it hasn't changed the need for engaging hands on activities.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 3 and action camera will provide a unique way for students to document, and record data, study the natural world around them, explore new ideas for conservation of resources, and learn about new technologies. Coupled with our existing green screen, students can easily create their own projects, commercials, or news broadcasts on topics of study.
