I’m so lucky to teach at my school. I have a wonderful group of diverse students from all backgrounds, at all ability levels. Many have the goal of attending competitive colleges and universities and they constantly challenge themselves to excel.
My students are freshmen and sophomores, some are new to our country and are learning English, and others are advanced students who are attempting college-level coursework before they can even drive.
They are all learning how to be more independent and responsible, and adjusting to the rigors of high school and the expectations that come with it.
I want to give them as many advantages as I can, whether they are on a path to attend college or are looking to be one of the first in their family to graduate high school.
My classroom has textbooks - lots of textbooks! But our world is becoming more digital. Not all students are strong readers. And there's a big world of wonderful websites and amazing educational apps that can make world history come alive.
Help me to make my lessons more engaging by bringing Chromebooks into my classroom.
This will give me lots of flexibility - rather than talking over a PowerPoint, or putting notes on the whiteboard, I can switch up and have students move to stations in the classroom. My AP students can prepare for their AP exams by using AP Classroom. Or I could divide students into small groups, each with a shared computer. Assignments can be submitted online, and students can complete interactive multimedia projects.
