This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are learning how to take their experiences and write about them. In preparation for this particular experience, we will be reading all sorts of books about zoo animals.

I work at a Title I school in California where the students do not get some of the same opportunities that other children do.

They are so excited to be able to ride for an hour to the closest zoo, in Oakland. They love reading and watching videos about the variety of animals that we are likely to see on that day. They know that it will be special.

My Project

I would like to give my students a chance to study, experience and enjoy real zoo animals. They will spend the entire month of April learning about monkeys,lions, giraffes, flamingos, bears, elephants and other zoo animals. After studying all about the animals, I want my students to meet them!

When I take my students to the zoo for their first time, those enthusiastic learners will feel the joy and completing a project and walk away knowing that they are smarter.
