Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the best students I could ever ask for. They come to school each day with the desire to learn and succeed. It isn't easy for them; most are learning English as a second language, eating only when they are at school, and have missed out on many of the experiences other children their age have had, but they don't let that stop them! My 19 students are determined to overcome the odds and be all they can be!
What my students lack in tangible goods, they make up for ten-fold in creativity, perseverance, and heart.
They are clever, hard-working, and considerate. They love to "get their hands dirty" and explore learning rather than listen to me talk. They learn best when they are allowed to discover, apply, and think in-depth about topics.
My Project
We have a few iPads in our classroom and my students love using them to practice skills we're learning in math and language arts. One of their favorite ways to practice is by using the Osmo Learning System.
These games will expand their learning opportunities to include more targeted supports and introduce more digital citizenship skills.
Many of my students live in homes where English is not the primary language. The Osmo Studio will offer these students opportunities to write and draw basic English vocabulary. On the other hand, some of my students are gifted learners and need opportunities to explore new learning. The Math Wizard Series will allow them to explore topics that go beyond our current curriculum while reinforcing current standards.
