Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students choose to come to our High School after unsuccessful attempts to gain credit at their home High School. Our students choose our school because we have a reputation for supporting our students through the up and down lives that many of them lead.
Our students find success as we work together, like a family, to give our students a sense of belonging, supportive teachers and a purposeful classroom experience that prepares them for a bright and hopeful future.
My Project
Hiding in the virtual reality of a phone, my students don't have the connection that the natural world can give. So! In Mrs. Ks class we take a walk OUTSIDE around the block around our school to connect with both nature and each other.
When we come inside, we share a snack and have a gratitude break to reconnect on their phones with someone who is grateful for them.
With a break outside and a snack in their bellies, they have the space to think about others and share that gratitude for learning.
On "Fun Fridays" we want to take a break from classroom learning and connect with each other in meaningful team building games.
