My Students

My amazing students live in a rural area, and more than half survive below the poverty line. My classroom is an inclusion class. This means that I teach students with disabilities along with their typically developing peers.

I learn as much from my students as they learn from me.

Despite the challenges my students face from learning difficulties, poverty, and living in the heart of the opioid crisis, they continue to have good attitudes. They are eager to learn. I want to fill their space with the tools that help them to have the same opportunities as children in more prominent areas. My students deserve every advantage.

My Project

My students need LEGO materials to build an interactive LEGO Wall for our classroom. We will use the liquid nails to attach the LEGO baseplates to the existing wall. The students will then use the LEGO bricks in many creative, interactive ways.

The possibilities for this LEGO wall are endless. First, my students can express themselves creatively. They can collaborate on projects. They can retell stories in literature. Finally, they can build fractions or geometric designs in math. This project aligns with Stem Projects and Maker Spaces. It supports 21st Century Learning.
