Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our campus serves students from 3 years old up to 5th grade. Over 85% of our students are from low-income households. In addition to our robust Dual Language: One Way program, about 50% of our population are English Language Learners and emergent bilinguals.

The versatility of LEGO blocks means we can offer more structured guidance for specific learning outcomes or encourage exploration with open-ended learning tasks.

Using LEGO blocks and kits to facilitate creative engineering initiatives with our students means they receive learning through play, by problem-solving, offering constructive feedback, and focusing on teamwork. Our neighborhood school is supported by our tight-knit community. We want to respond to their belief in us by preparing our students for their future through STEM.

My Project

When children receive technology and engineering opportunities at school, they are able to connect what is learned in school with ways that knowledge applies to the world around them. With the BricQ Motion Essential kits, students will be able to explore projects that involve structures as well as moving parts. Students can explore force, cause and effect, balance, physical properties, and other aspects of science.

These experiences also provide opportunities to practice good sportsmanship, accepting and giving constructive criticism to their peers, and learn about the importance of the scientific process.
