Let's Go Camping In Dramatic Play

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Dramatic play is so immersive in preschool. I've had wonderful success this year in creating big, enriching centers and they're all packed up and ready to be reused next year. We currently have our Ice Cream Truck out and every day there is a line of children waiting to buy ice cream from their friends, only to get back in line to buy it again, or take their turn selling. I painted the cardboard 2D truck and Donors Choose provided the ice cream materials.

Each dramatic play center I've made this year extends to Math, ELA, and Art projects for a few weeks.

We've had a pumpkin stand, gingerbread house, taco truck, flower market and now ice cream truck. I have ice cream themed math games, ELA matching activities and ice cream art projects. We're having an ice cream party in a week!

The camping theme will work for either end of the year or beginning of the year. I've been gathering items for it but just haven't found the logs or fire that I need to really make it pop.
