My Project
My kindergarten students are interested in learning about the world beyond their own neighborhood. Many of my students are first-generation English speakers who serve as interpreters for their families and other students in our school. My students face a variety of challenges beyond the classroom, such as transportation, housing, clothing, and food insecurities. Despite these challenges, my students are excited to learn and grow each day. I love teaching and I am excited to go to school every day! We are a class family where my students care for each other. I have always said that I am on a mission field in my classroom, and I know I am making a difference one child at a time.
I want to give my students books, puzzles, and toys about birds to make them feel comfortable at school.
These resources will help with their overall mental health and help them succeed in all areas at school! Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of my students did not attend in-person pre-kindergarten. As such, they have not interacted with other children as they would have pre-pandemic. Sadly, the pandemic has robbed many elementary-aged students of the opportunity to interact with other children. These resources about birds will help students develop important social skills as they work with their new classmates on a familiar subject! I know all children love birds! All of these resources will be used in our daily center rotations and whole group instruction in the classroom.
