My classroom is comprised of 22 kindergarten students from various and diverse backgrounds, representing at least five different ethnicities. My students are interested in learning about the world beyond their own neighborhood. Many of my students are first-generation English speakers, who serve as interpreters for their family and other students in our school. One of my kindergarteners recently interpreted for the school office. My students face a variety of challenges beyond the classroom, such as transportation, housing, clothing, and food insecurities. Despite these challenges, my students are excited to learn and grow each day. I love teaching and I am excited to go to school every day! We are a class family where my students care for each other. I have always said that I am on a mission field in my classroom, and I know I am making a difference one child at a time.
