This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a previous 3rd grade teacher for 6 years and now jumping into the world of 4th and 5th grade, I see how important it is to have a daily writing routine. In teaching these new grade levels, I have found that how my students write will not only help them become better writers now but prepare them for what is to come in middle school and beyond.

Writing in upper elementary and middle school emphasizes organization and idea development as students work on expressing their ideas with increasing clarity and a unique voice.

This is why the items that I am looking to get funded will be so beneficial for my upper grade students. The binders will help to complete a class set of writing resources that students will use to reference items such as high frequency words, examples of transitions words and writing samples. All these documents will be kept safe in the binders with the help of the sheet protectors. The graphing paper will be used across multiple subjects such as math and/or to practice calligraphy or handwriting. The folders with prongs will be used to keep students final writing papers all year long and will allow me to easily pull to use during parent teacher conference to show families their child's writing progression. Lastly, the wider laminator will help me keep teacher created writing posters protected and ready to use for many years to come.
