My students need to WRITE! They need a writing center to help them tell their stories on paper. Magnetic writing boards and write-and-wipe boards help show them that writing can be fun!
Do you love writing your stories in a journal, on a computer, even on a website or blog? My students are learning that writing is the key to telling their stories. Sometimes working in an older school has its challenges. Furniture and materials have been passed around for years. Help upgrade us!
My students are first graders in a Title 1 school with more than 70% of the students eligible for free and reduced priced lunch.
Located in a small city in Florida, we are one of the oldest schools in the district. The students find our school a caring community, but at times we lack the funds to purchase new and exciting materials and furniture. These students strive to succeed and want more than anything to learn.
My Project
The Writing Center requested will provide a quiet and organized space where students will be able to rotate into during center time. They will have all the materials to create a story at their finger tips. They will be able to learn how to organize and keep their space clean and useful for all to use. The whiteboards and magnetic writing boards will help show my young learners that writing is not only on paper with a pencil. Writing can take place ANYWHERE! Your donation will help provide a meaningful cozy corner where my students will WANT to be.
Teaching in a low income school has taught me so much.
Yes, we go without a lot of the new, exciting materials, but we have so much more. These students want to learn. They are eager to please. These writing materials and the desk requested will enhance their classroom experience and change their lives!
