As our students continue to grow so do their emotional and social needs. At our elementary school we offer a stupendous program for exceptional students where 82% are low income. Our students have intellectual disabilities and most have been at our school since age 3. It is their second home. They are always happy to be there and most are excited to see what we have for them to learn.
I love to see the smiles in the morning upon arrival.
That love they share lights up the the room. Watching them enjoy learning is an absolute thrill for us and exciting for them. They really enjoy coming to school each day!
My Project
This rug has many different ways of communication. Our Morning Meeting encourages behaviors and ways to communicate with each other.
Our students have intellectual disabilities and this space will be inviting for all.
School is the second home for many of our students and our goal is to keep the environment comfortable and cozy.
Our kids are always happy to be there and most are excited to see what we have for them to learn. Maintaining a consistent daily routine is essential to keeping a calm and orderly environment that some of our students require. Also, this rug will allow our nonverbal students to communicate in many another ways.
