Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Let’s Get to Work and Write! We are writing in our journals and learning new words every day. I differentiate instruction by helping each student spell the word that he or she needs to complete a writing piece.

We create individualized word walls that invite students to develop their spelling abilities.

We use the math manipulatives to play and learn at stations. Suddenly, math is not so daunting, as they measure tables using cubes as a nonstandard method of measurement! They hone their writing skills by learning to ask for help and how to receive help.

Discussing topics and exchanging their ideas promotes creativity. “How can I add details to my story?” is a phrase I often hear from students as they work with their partners.

The busy hum of children interacting with one another to perfect their writing assignments and using manipulatives to understand math is music to my ears!
