Help us get to the point with sharp pencils! Having a new pencil sharpener will help my students sharpen their pencils faster than using a handheld sharpener.
My students attend a school in an urban area of Washington state.
They come from diverse social and economic backgrounds. Our school is near a major military base, so many of our students have parents that are active duty or retired military. Over 70% of our students receive free or reduced lunch. My students are eager learners who want to do well.
My Project
My students need to have sharp pencils throughout the day. Currently, they are relying on an electric sharpener that is not reliable. It will often stop working and I will need to fix it after school. This leaves my students using handheld sharpeners the rest of the day, which can be a major distraction for so many of them.
I am also requesting pencils since our classroom supply is running low and we need more pencils to help us make it to the end of the year.
A new electronic pencil sharpener would be a great addition to our classroom.
It will let my students sharpen their pencils quickly and be ready to learn, without the distraction of handheld sharpeners!
