Let's get those Reading Engines Started

My students need a leveled literacy library to help develop and enhance their emerging reading skills. We want to learn how to read but need materials to help!

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Hawk's classroom raised $337

My Students

Catapult us into the wonderful world of reading by helping us obtain leveled books that are individualized to our current reading levels. We are emergent and beginning readers that need materials to go along with our Direct Instructional reading skills we are learning through Reading Mastery.

My students range in grades from First Grade through Third Grade and receive Exceptional Children's services in a SBS classroom (Specialized Behavior Support).

Due to behaviors that interfered with their schooling in the past, they have come to my classroom lacking the foundational reading and decoding skills to be on an on grade level reader. Most of my students are beginning and emergent readers. As we are using a Direct Instructional approach to learn decoding skills, my students need a vast collection of leveled books they can practice reading in the classroom and take home to apply the skills learned. By having leveled books in the classroom they will be able to access materials that are individualized to their needs as a beginning reader. They are eager and excited to learn. We just need materials so that I am able to provide them with as many opportunities to read as possible.

My Project

By having a literacy library for my students, they will be able to check out and read books that are at their reading level. This will promote reading fluency, confidence, and help them with their comprehension as they build on their independent reading level. By learning to read students will begin to enjoy reading and no longer see it as an impossible obstacle but a rewarding experience. The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.

Your donation to this project will prepare my students and equip them with opportunities to become more successful in reading.

As their success is built they will have a better chance accessing the general curriculum and becoming an on grade level reader. Because reading and literacy development is such a crucial skill, your donation will contribute to helping students learn how to read. This donation will also help to increase their self esteem and decrease their frustration.
