My Students

I am a Special Education teacher who serves students with disabilities in a high school setting. I am teaching prevocational skills and job tasks to students in 9th through 12th grade in an low-income urban setting.

Being able to provide my students with various types of learning opportunities, both functional skills and prevocational skills, is something that I strive for daily inside my classroom.

I will be teaching and assessing students through the Practical Assessment Exploration System inside of my classroom. In order for students to be successful in job tasks, I want to be able to provide them with the best opportunities to learn how to follow through with tasks that are on their levels.

My Project

The prevocational job kit will help my students learn task-related skills such as: sorting, assembling, packaging according to instruction, and collating. These tasks will enable my students with autism to be successfully employed after they finish their educational careers.

My students with autism need practice each day in order to successfully master a skill.

This prevocational kit would allow my students to practice much needed skills inside a structured learning environment.

By using the prevocational job kit, my students will learn how to complete a variety of tasks aiding in their ability to transfer skills from one work environment to another.
