Here at Taylor, we are working diligently to ensure our students are future ready. This begins in the classroom by providing opportunities to learn through technology and learning pathways.
I can't do it....YET!
This is the motto we believe in at our school and encourage a growth mindset among our students because sometimes school is the only encouragement they get in their day.
I teach at a Title I school in Texas. Many of my students receive special food packs to last them through the weekend, names are put into an Angel tree for holiday donations so they can have a fulfilled holiday season. We have a very transient population with much movement throughout the school year. Despite our challenges, we have a dedicated group of students that work together.
Our motto at our school is One Village, Every Child! We are a TEAM!
These iPods will continue to enhance the technology-rich classroom that I strive to create. My classroom provides daily opportunities for students to utilize technology and become future ready in that aspect! Every piece of technology we have access to in our school and classroom allow my students to dig deeply into their creative minds. These iPods were chosen with my students in mind, more specifically, to encourage them to also start paying more attention to current events that surround their everyday lives by listening to podcasts they can provide responses and opinions to.
With these new new iPods, my students will be able to listen to podcasts daily during our independent workshop time, and utilize their listening and responses to those podcasts as a way to have deeper discussions with their classmates.
This skill will be beneficial in helping them in their book clubs as well.
They will also be able to choose from a variety of school and age appropriate podcasts and fill out a brochure to respond to. They will have an option of deciding between fiction and nonfiction genres to listen and respond to. The Ipod touch will help them easily maneuver and find the podcast that is right for them.
