My Students

Notice how as technology grows and changes it also shrinks in size? Remember sitting in class while your teacher demonstrates a lesson on the large overhead projector taking up essential classroom space?

My students are a fabulous collection of Pre-Kindergarten children whom demonstrate a developmental need.

My students qualify for my classroom by low performance that indicates they will be behind in reading by the third grade! My inclusion classroom; which means some of the students have special needs, is in a public Title 1 school. A majority of my students come from economically challenged families where technology is not readily available in the home.

My Project

I am fortunate to be provided a laptop, iPad and projection system in my classroom. These items are wonderful resources but my students are still children, which means they still learn through seeing and doing! At times, there are hands-on activities to be conducted with the students but despite sitting on the floor all together, they still have a difficult time seeing the activity. A document camera would allow me to have the activity being shown on the screen via my projection system, so it is more visible to all. This would be especially beneficial during literacy activities when a book may involve small print but I want my students to really see the concepts I am using to read!

The document camera would give my students access to view even more hands-on activities to help them learn and grow.

Additionally, my students will increase their concepts about print and literacy knowledge as I can conduct literacy activities that are clearly seen by all students as not everyone can sit front and center during lessons!
