My Students

I have previously been a second-grade teacher. I strive to have an engaging classroom that keeps my students involved and excited to learn. I am at great school with a variety of demographics of families, although the major in low-income families. We are a Title I school and although we have resources, it just never seems to be enough. As the holidays are approaching, you hear and see the devastating reality some students live in. When I send home homework, maybe two or three students return their work. They explain they don't have pencils, glue, or scissors to be able to complete the assignment. They have to take care of their siblings, stay with a caretaker until late hours in the evening, or just are not encouraged to work on their academics. When coming to school, many look forward to the consistency, love and care they get while learning each day. The students love to engage with each other, even if it's while learning. I look forward to getting back into the classroom with Covid somewhat* behind us and getting back into a routine of learning hands on!

My Project

The students look for engaging activities while learning. What would be better than playing hot potato while doing our math facts! Think quick and pass it before the potato explodes on you! While using a PowerPoint with the clicker so the teacher can stand in a distance near the students from the computer and still continue clicking away. The students have recess daily and somethings in Florida, it's just too hot to go outside or .. rainy! These magnetic blocks and connectors engaged their imagination in creating houses, ramps and shapes while interacting with their classmates developing their social skills.

These items will not only help the students learn but engage their learning to make them excited and wanting to continue learning day after day.
