This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Some of my students are considered at-risk by the state of Illinois. This means that they come from low-income households, have developmental delays or have other factors that deem them at-risk. Our school has more than 30% low income.
My students are 5 and 6 years, but their knowledge is a far wider span.
One thing they all have in common is that they strive to learn all they can. At Woodgate, our kindergarten team works hard to make their learning experience insightful and inspiring.
My Project
I am starting in a Kinder classroom in which the materials are over 20 years old or more. So we are looking to bring our class into the 21st century. We could use the CD player to engage the students during academic centers as well as get them moving and learning. We would use the white board centers and storage during whole group instruction or small group instruction. These can be used to work on sight words, counting, rhyming and much more!
The neon books bins will help keep my students and our classroom more organized and looking bright.
:) All of these items will be used to have our environment feel engaging, enriching and fun.
