Help me give my students supplies to get them started this upcoming school year. If parents don't have to worry about purchasing school supplies, then that is one less thing.
I teach fourth grade at a diverse Title I school in southwest Florida. Our students come from numerous cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Through lots of hard work, our school continues to help our students succeed. The students at my school face many challenges both in the classroom and at home. Despite these many challenges, my goal is to keep things simple and provide my students with a loving and meaningful learning environment. They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Many of my students are raised in single-parent households or by other family members. Some are even homeless as of right now. Most of them receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. During the end of last school year, our school, like many others, was forced to switch to remote learning. My district had to supply laptops and internet for many families so they could be successful with distance learning.
My Project
This project is to help relieve some stress that parents are feeling with recent events. I am requesting basic supplies for our classroom next year - pencils, crayons, notebooks, erasers, glue sticks, and disinfecting wipes. I want my students' families to not have to worry about these things in the fall.
After what has more than likely been a difficult spring and summer for many, I would like to supply my students with the supplies they need to be successful in school.
With the impact recent events have had on the economy, providing these items for my students will make a big difference to families who have lost income. Thank you for your help!
