Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in the Bronx. I serve a diverse group of students from kindergarten through fifth grade. Many are English language learners and come from low-income families. They are so excited to have a visual arts class where they can express themselves. I will be visiting classrooms in a blended capacity and a large percentage may be working remotely this upcoming school year. I see several classes on a remote only basis as well as those in the building

My art class is a safe haven where students can feel free to take creative risks and express their emotions.

Students in my school typically don't have access to art supplies at home. They are bright, creative, and eager young scholars. They would all really benefit from your support with materials and mediums which they don't get to use except in our art classroom.

My Project

This year, we are starting from scratch in a brand new environment. For the past 3 years I have been serving my school as elementary visual arts teacher on a cart. This year I will have a classroom which students will visit during their scheduled art period.

We need access to a printer with color and black ink so my art students can get worksheets, visual references, scans and copies all-in-one area.

Many of my students are English language learners or have IEP's that require them to have more accessible content.

Often times, I will post visuals that have to do with today's project or create a handout with step-by-step directions or more information about a particular artist or element of art we are addressing for the lesson. Having a printer will help cut down on the wait time for copies or the need to use my colleagues devices and supplies. Thank you so much for your support
