This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a low-income area and resources for them are hard to come by. These students all have special needs and funding is not always available for all the materials they need.
For this project, we're looking to create a space for indoor Physical Education for our students with special needs so we are asking for floor mats to make the space safer and more accessible to all students.
Having exercise mats will allow us to do so many more activities like yoga, dance, and stretching.
My Project
With this gym mat, my students with special needs will be able to take part in PE safely. The mats would make it possible for us to exercise inside and do things like dancing, stretching, cardio, and yoga. The more soft places they have to land, the better. With the public school budgets, the way they are, getting mats and other necessities is not an option. Donors Choose makes it possible. Hopefully, we can all get stronger and healthier because of this project. No more excuses! Soon we will begin working on fitness plans so these mats will be essential.
