Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Anyone who meets my First Grade class will automatically know how special they are. They attend an exemplary school in the middle of Downtown Miami. Our students reside all over the city and make their way to our little school every day. They enjoy our school and have so much fun in first grade. Each and every one of them is smart, caring, funny, and full of energy. They spend a good amount of their day in my classroom and I want them to be comfortable in order to have the most effective learning environment. They also enjoy being outdoors for physical education class and recess time.
My Project
My students love physical education (PE) and recess time. At our school, first graders get 30 minutes of PE every day along with 15 of recess. However, first graders do not get an official PE teacher. As their regular classroom teacher, I teach the PE block as well. We do daily activities such as excercises, games, learn about sports, and some free play. The students do not have materials to actually use during that time. I would like to have assorted balls, hula hoops, jump ropes, parachute, excercise, and bean bag games, for them to use during their PE time. We also need the rolling cart to keep everything in and to move outside easily. These first graders will get so much use out of these materials and it will be used on a daily basis!
