Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The almost 1000 students at our school live in a low income neighborhood with limited access to basic school supplies. We are a Title I school with almost all of the students qualifying for free breakfast and free lunch each day.
Although my students have limited access to resources, they are enthusiastic to come to school each day to learn many new standards.
I look forward to giving my students many of the much needed supplies this year by asking the generous donors of DonorsChoose to provide these supplies.
My Project
Last year, our school was deemed a health and fitness school. One of the challenges of being a fitness school, is not having enough sports equipment to use for the various physical fitness activities.
We will be practicing soccer drills and playing soccer games with this new equipment during our daily minutes of P.E.
With students needing a minimum of 60 minutes of activity each day, these supplies will help the students get motivated to get out there and be active!
Thanks to Target's generous donation, we will have everything we need for my 5th graders to play soccer this school year.
This project is "kid-inspired" because throughout the year last year, my students were constantly begging to play soccer out on the grass area. There are very motivated to be physically active if they are promised that they can play soccer!
I am requesting enough soccer balls, pop-up goals, cones, ball pumps, and mesh bags so the students will be able to practice soccer drills, and play soccer games.
