Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We have 7 kindergarten classes and 2 special education classes in our school. We all share a small kindergarten yard with very little supplies during morning and afternoon recess. We need more resources to keep our kindergarten kids active and engaged.
Our students are a great bunch of energetic five to six year-old children who are eager to learn.
The majority of our students are English language learners and have limited resources at home. Our school is not located in a "nice" area and many of our students have to deal with difficult situations in their lives, but they still deserve a great education. We work hard to give them an inviting place to learn, a chance to experience new and memorable things, and an opportunity for a better life.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will be not only be used by my students, but all kindergarten students at our school. I would like all kindergartners at our school to have supplies to encourage activity and movement. Students need to move and exercise during their breaks, in order to be ready to return to class to work and learn.
Students need their break time, but also need to develop their motor skills.
These supplies like 5 hula hops, various types of balls, bean bags, play sand, will allow them to hone their skills in throwing, catching, balance, coordination, and cooperative play. These are truly necessary items for kindergartners.
